The FAIRES and ADAIR researchers have been unable to find the Proof we desire about which John ADAIR married Jean FAIRES in York Co SC. We know that the mother of Jean FAIRES (Jean/Jane ADAIR w/o James FAIRES & d/o William ADAIR of New Castle DE) had a brother John ADAIR, Sr. and he had a son John ADAIR, Jr. (the Sr. & Jr. are our designations) . . BUT . . Right now we have not been able to fine documentation as to which of the 2 men below could be the son of William ADAIR that died Bef. 29 Nov 1779 in Pencader Hd., New Castle Co., Delware.
[A] John Adair b. abt. 1768 in New Castle Co. DEd. bet. 1800-1809 in York Co. SCwho married Jean Faires d/o James Faires & Jean/Jane Adair.(We think it possible this John may have suffered from war wounds because when James FAIRES died in 1802 he left his daughter Jean money for medical expenses.) OR [B] John Adair b. abt. 1765 in New Castle Co. DE d. After 1832 in Callaway Co. MO who married Mary Hews (Hughes)06 Jan 1785 in New Castle Co. DE
I do want to apologize for my ignorance for not knowing New Castle was still in Delaware. In the early stages of my ADAIR research many years ago,I was told the area was now in PA . . and shamefully . . I have never checked to find out if that were true, however I did read that the area was once called"The Wedge".Some of the FAIRES researchers live near the area and have told me "if you have time" there are many old records to search but it is best to do it in person and since I live in Texas sadly that is no longer possible for me.I have had success using professional researchers in GA and SC but know of none in the New Castle area. Now I realize I need to do much more reading on the general history of the area.
Again, I am very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge with me.
