I am so happy to find this page.I think my ancestors may have a connection to you. These are the facts as I know them at this time. (I also have a complete, I think, line from 1765 down to 1999) My G-G-Grandfather was James T. Adair b. 1790 in York Co. SCmarried Ann Smith in York Co. SC in 1814.The father of James (& my G-G-G Grandfather) was John Adair b? who married Jean Faires b. 1765 in York, York Co. SC. The Faires Family have given me some good leads from their family files. These leads are: James Faires b. Antrim Ireland married Jean Adair abt. 1755 we think. This Jean Adair had a brother Richard, from New Castle, (then) PA (now DE.) who was a lawyer. There is information about Richard, a William and a James and land they owned either together or seperate .I have found information about Richard also having a relative named Samuel. The Faires Family does not know for sure whether Jean and Richard's father was named William or James. They also think that John Adair that m. Jean Faires might have been a nephew of Jean Adair.I know these names are so similar that it is confusing.I think it possible that John Adair might have imigrated from Ireland or he may have been born in New Castle.I do know or rather think that there is no immediate connection to any of the other Adairs of SC.These were the only Adairs in the census records of York Co. SCIt appears that John Adair died before 1810 because Jean Faires Adair was the only one listed as head of household in that census.Could this be any connection to your family that you are aware of?I aure do hope so.Hope to hear from you when possible.
