I'm looking for descendants of Mathias (german first nameequal to english "Matthew")ADAM, who was born in Wormeldingen in 1801(also called Wormeldange and Wormer), which is a village in Luxembourg. The village is situated near the river Mosel (also called Mousel or Moselle).
This Mathias ADAM married Margaret (or Margarete) SCHMIT as a second wife in the village of Wincheringen, which is very close to Wormeldingen. Both villages then belonged to Luxembourg. After 1815 Wincheringen came to Prussia and is in Germany today. Wormeldingen today belongs to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Mathias and Margarete ADAM first must have arrived in Wisconsin, the live in Rogers Township, ILLINOIS, where the possibly bought a farm or worked on a farm. They had several children, among them Henry (which is Heinrich in german) and Nicolas (which is Nikolaus in german). Henry was the older one. These two boys had been born in Wincheringen.
Henry married Katherina (or Catherine) SCHLADER and lived in Wright County, IOWA.
Nicolas married Wilhelmina GARTNER or GARDNER and lived in Rogers Township. In arround 1888 Nicolas' head was kicked by a horse and the man died of the injuries. His father Mathias was still alived and wrote this to his children in Germany.
As I found out the surname ADAM was later modified into ADAMS.
I for myself am a descendant of Mathias ADAM and his first wife.
