There are a couple of names in that list who I do not know of, our link is one James ADAM (b.1823) who is NOT on that list as he is buried in the family vault at Bon Accord, Otago, New Zealand.
James's parents were John and Margaret who died within days of each other in 1864 and resided at 9 Fish Street at the time of their death (Bilious fever and general exhaustion after fever at an advanced age as certified by William Perrie, MD., 17 Jun 1864, St Nicholas, Aberdeen).
James was educated until the age of 10 from 1827 to1832 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
He worked as an Apprentice Rope Spinner from 1832-1839 in Aberdeen, Scotland.
He worked as a labourer in railway construction for about a year from 1839-1840 in South England.
He worked as a Shipwright from 1840 to 1847.
He worked as a Precentor from 1842-1847 in Free West Church
He emigrated to Otago, New Zealand on the Phillip Laing on its maiden voyage to Port Chalmers, New Zealand on 20 Nov 1847.
He worked as an Immigration Agent from 1858-1874 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
He was an Author and published in Edinburgh in1858 (Bell and Bradfute): "Emigration to New Zealand: Description of the Province of Otago" and published in Edinburgh in 1874 (Bell and Bradfute): "Twenty-five years of emigrant life in the South of New Zealand". This was re-published in 1876 and then again in 1884 (Kiwi Publishers). Publications are held for viewing in the National Library of New Zealand (plus we have an original copy at home!).
He built the original homestead then known as Bon Accord Homestead in 1859 in Tokomairiro, Otago, New Zealand.
He resided at the Bon Accord Estate from around from about 1860 to until his death in 1908
All in all we have a fairly complete history for James' and his descendents but nothing much past his parents and very little on his siblings - if anyone can help it will be most appreciated.
David
