Your Luther Adams is most likely the Luther, son of Joel.According to what I have, he was born,May 10, 1788 in Brookfield, Mass. Joel is listed as one of the first land buyers in the town of East Aurora, Erie County, New York.He is said to have been the only one who moved his family to the town in the year of 1805 and lived there the first winter. This is according to the town history in the 1888 Atlus of Erie County.I have him married to a lady by the name of Azubah. This could be wrong or she could have gone by Ruby.I think I would have.
Joel had 6 boys and one girl.Five of the boys were said to have lived to "an extreme old age".Indeed, I have Luthers death as October of 1871.He would have been 83 years old.
My connection to this family, is through Joel's son Enos.Enos married Martha Richardson. She was the oldest child of Caleb and Martha (Holmes) Richardson, although she had an older half sister. The Richardsons lived well into their 80's also.Caleb and Martha had 11 children, Martha had one in a prior marriage. All 12 lived long lives and had children.Thier daughter, Charity is my great-great-greatgrandmother.So my connection to the Adams is pretty slim.
I am interested in the family because there is some intermarriage on some of the members, and Enos and Martha and their son Ira Adams are buried next to Caleb and Martha in East Aurora. Also, several of my associated families, including the Adams and the Richardson seem to move together from Mass. to Corinth Vermont, to Erie County, New York, then to DeKalb County, Illinois, and finally on to Floyd County, Iowa.
I Would love to know more about your branch of the family. You can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
