Cherylyn, have we spoken before?? I have your email address written down in my notes. But I had you as the daughter of Edward Dewey Adams, not John Edward Adams...
I don't know a terrible lot about Great Aunt Ruby. I know that I saw her as a child, but she died when I was 10, my grandfather (Thomas Floyd Hyde, her brother) died when I was 11, and my mother Jeannienne Hyde Walker died when I was 12. I cannot for the life of me remember what Ruby looked like. After that we lost touch almost 100% with all of the Hyde relations, and the James (my grandmother) family as well.
I don't have any photos of Ruby that I am aware of. I have one, an old tin type baby picture, of Martha Lois, their sister, and another of her when she was older. Of course I have some pictures of my grandpa. But none of Ruby, or their other sister Annie.
Ruby was born in Dallas Texas on 3 March 1901 and died 25 Jan 1970 in Dallas and is buried at Laurel Land Cemetery. She had sisters Annie L, born 1902, who I have never been able to find anything out about. I don't know if Annie married, died young, or what. I do not remember her at all, or remember anyone ever talking about her. Then there was my grandpa, Thomas Floyd, born 20 Nov 1905, and Martha Lois, born 1909. Martha Lois is supposed to have died in 1933. Again, I never recall meeting her or anyone speaking of her. I didn't know of her til I started researching.
Ruby's father was John Thomas Hyde. I have a few photos of him. He was born in Princeton, Caldwell Co KY 1 Jan 1875 and died in Dallas 21 Nov 1947. He is also interred at Laurel Land. His first wife was Tereasdia A. Grissom, mom of your grandma and my grandpa,Annie and Martha Lois. She was born in Van Buren Co TN 20 April 1883 and died of tuberculosis in Dallas 20 July 1910. She is buried in an unmarked grave in the Old Letot Cemetery in Dallas.
John Thomas remarried very shortly thereafter to a woman named Pearl Gooch. They had 2 additional children, my great Uncle Lee Roy Hyde (1913-1997) and his sister Marguerite Hyde Wilson, (1911-1988). I knew Lee Roy fairly well, but cannot remember his sister. I know she came to my grandfather's funeral but I cannot remember her. Pearl raised my grandfather and your grandmother, attended my parents wedding (she died in 1972)...in my mother's wedding book my mom put Pearl as her grandmother but she told me that Pearl was her step grandma. She knew that her real grandma was someone else.
If I have not already told you all this, email me!! Email me anyhow...we need to trade data more completely. Regina
