Thanks for posting the information. I have looked at York County deeds, and didn't find any record of a 1750 sale of land to Robert Adams. There were no sales by him either. If you have any references to this, I would very much like to see them.If Robert was the name of Elijah's father, it would make a lot of sense, and account for the Robert Adams, Jr., "younger," etc., there.
I'm a descendant of Elijah Adams, who married Hannah Blair around 1783 in Bedford County and who died in Montgomery County, Kentucky, probably around 1801. I think that he was probably the son of Elijah (d. 1798). The Elijah who was a merchant in Bedford may be a nephew----one of the reasons for this reasoning is that Elijah Adams, Jr., wasn't involved in the administration of the elder ELijah's estate, as would seem likely for someone who later who be a merchant, familiar with accounting. This Elijah seems to have come to Kentucky from Pennsylvania around 1795, but I haven't learned where he lived in Pennsylvania, although the Blair family definitely lived in Bedford County before going to Kentucky.
