Carol, The census I stated on this site was Franklin Co IL 1820....There is a Dickson Co Tn site, infact I think there are two of them. I'm not sure of the census, trying to remember where I looked at it, or if I have? (You can type in the data wanted on you google search and it will probably come up) I own the "Primal Families of Yellow Creek Valley" the book states that there were two different families of ADAMS in Dickson Co TN. One bunch came from the numerous Halifax Co VA ADAMS, and the other were the ADAMSES that came from NC & SC to southeastern Tn-Roane and Hamilton Cos, then up to Dickson Co. The name Kinchen comes from the latter family. As for Nelson ADAMS, there were several! You would think that being a rather unusual name, that it would be easy to track down, not so. Same goes for Kinchen ADAMS, there are many of those also. Kinchen also being from the latter above. They are in FLA, GA, NC, TN, and now IL too. There were two Nelson ADAMS in TN during, I believe 1830-do not quote me, as I forget now that I'm older. So you see there is no quick fix on these ADAMSES with what we thought were rare names.(look at the archives for TN, also type in ADAMS, in the search slot for the counties you are interested in, if there is a census it will say so, and you can look at it right then-course I'm probably telling you something you already know)
It does take forever to obtain records from the NA, as soon as you forget about them, they will arrive.
