Here is a copy of the will.My ancestor was son William Adams and we are sure Janet Adams is the wife of your James Scott.What is your source that Jane Adams actually came from Ireland and when?Do you have dates?Where in Virginia were Jane Adams and James Scott married?

John Adams Will
In the name of God amen:
I John Adams of the County of Washington being now well stricken in years and very frail of body but of perfect sound mind and memory, knowing the uncertainity of this life and that all flesh is subject to mortality as it is appointed for all men once to die do think it necessary in order to leave my Temporal affairs in as settled a way as possible to make a last will and Testament which after recommending my soul to God who gave it with due submissions and resignation.I will as followeth (Viz) that all my just debts however due and owing shall and maybe satisfied and paid in convenient time after my decease, by my executors hereafter named.Item.I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Mary Hanley one cow and a common Bible.Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved son, Samuel Hanly one common Bible.Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Janet Scott, one common Bible.Item, I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Nancy one common Bible.Item I give and bequeath to my well beloved son William all my right title and claim to one hundred and eighty acres of land on big limestone, being the plantation whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever, and likewise all the remaining part of my personal estate except a small sum and the price of two years schooling which I give to James Moore who is now at school with this reserve that my well beloved wife Agnes shall have and enjoy one full third part of my estate both real and personal during her natural life and at her decease leave her wearing clothes her bed and saddle to who she sees fit.Lastly I do nominate and appoint my son Samuel Handly Wm. Adams and James Montgomery executors of this my last will and Testament and disannulling all and every other will or wills whatsoever by me heretofore made.Signed sealed published and acknowledged by the testator John Adams to be his last will and Testament in presence of
