David, I have read that there was a Collin Adams and wife Lucienda living in Tipton Co., TN, in 1840.This source believes they were the parents of Frances "Fannie" Nicholson Adams, who married James Goodrum Hunley 25 May 1842 in Tipton Co., TN.This Frances was said to have at least two brothers Dudley and Albert Adams. This Adams family originated in England where they were prominent in the pottery and china industry. However, in America they were engaged in farming or in the mercantile business.
The LDS IGI (Patron Sheet) has a Frances Nicholson married to Colin Adams on 16 Dec 1790 in Greenville Co., VA.
Message #2291 on the Adams family forum says Colin Adams (b. ABT 1752) came from England to Virginia with his brother Edwin.Colin and his son Dudley settled in Sumner Co., TN.
The heirs and the estate of Collin Adams are mentioned in Records of the Taxable Property and Rolls in Sumner Co. 1818, 1819, and 1822.So it appears he died before 1818.
A RootsWeb database has Edwin Adams married to Olive McClemore 5 Feb 1789 in Greenville Co., VA.
These are pieces of a puzzle that I haven't put together yet.
