Hi David,I also am in direct line with John Hobbs Adams Sr. B i727 and have had difficulty identifying who his parents were. This is a major problem to sort out because there is so much errorious information and lack of verification.I have been trying to obtain information from other researchers and am still hoping that I might get lucky. I have information that John Sr.was married to Ann Caudill,b l731 m 1746 Fairfax co VA. Other info states he married Ann Stephens. There is verified information that John Hobbs Jr was married to Nancy Anne Caudill.
I have information that John Sr. parents were Benjamin Adams bl701 or 1705 Sussex VA. and Nancy Agnes Ezell. The Family Group records indicate that they had eight children, John Adams Sr. b1727, Daniel b 1730,Fannie b 1731,Spencer b 1735,Benjamin b 1735,Jacob b1737, and William Adams b 1739. The Ancestry .com lists 19 chldren. There is possibly two Benjamins involved here and two families that researchers have combinef. There is a will left be Benjamin that was probated June 14, l756 Sussex Co. in which he lists his heirs as Benjamin jr, Thomas, James, Mary, Agnes, Elizabeth Martha, Ann and Sarah. There is also information that a brother of Benjamin named David left some orphaned children that were raised by Benjamin. The parents of Benjamin were Thomas and Elizabeth Adams. Thomas left a will written July 26th, 1722 recorded Oct. 9,1722 page 560 Martin Brandon Parish of Prince George Co. VA He lists his children as Thomas, william, savid, Benjamin, Henry, Elizabeth Whittmore Adams and Mary Phillips Adams
I hope this does not confuse you to much. It is very difficult when you are dealing with the same names in every family and all of the birthdates seem to be guesses. Other than the wills and reported property transactions there is nothing to substanciate a lot of the information in this research.
Good luck with your research and if you have any information that fits in I would appeciate hearing from you.
