Hello,
I am interested in this ADAMS family group as possibly connecting with my PIERCE - MYRICK family group out of VA > NC > SC with the MYRICK family in Barnwell/Allendale County, South Carolina and the PIERCE family in 96th District, South Carolina. My paternal 4th great grandfather was Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) born:Abt. 1749 in Frederick County, VA, who married Sophia HUNTER, and Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) (according to Revolutionary War pension application information,) had a sister believed to have been named Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE, born:Bef./Abt./Aft. 1750 probably in Frederick County, VA, who was living in Jones County, Georgia at the time Hugh PIERCE filled out his pension papers in 1832.This Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE married a man named ADAMS and while I was searching other information regarding the LARGENT and LANG families that married into a connecting MYRICK group possibly in these same areas of South Carolina I stumbled across information about a William James "James" ADAMS, born:Abt. 1748 in 96th District, South Carolina, who married a woman named Elizabeth ? and they were the parents of children:Amos, Charles, Elizabeth, John, William and Henry. The son, William (2) ADAMS, Jr. appears to have married a woman named Johanna ?, (which would appear to be where you begin with your ADAMS information.)
I'm not totally positive that this is the right ADAMS family group for this ? ADAMS that married the Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE that was the sister of Hugh PIERCE, (RS,) but looks very strongly possible.
In addition, and I don't know that there is any connection, I am also searching for any information on a man who was named ? ADAMS and married as the 1st husband of a woman named Callie Martha MUNN, born:November 27, 1860 in Missouri according to her obituary but I had shown her being born in Arkansas which is probably where her family moved after her birth in Missouri and my only info on her parents is that her father was said to have been killed in the Civil War and her mother died a short time after and at some point I believe when Callie was a child she moved to Franklin Parish, Louisiana with her brother to live with an uncle or two.Callie's first husband was named ? ADAMS who died very shortly after their marriage. After his death Callie married my maternal grandfather, Louis Hector SLAUGHTER, born:February 14, 1869 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana in or near Liddieville where he is buried between Callie and his 2nd wife, Mary LEE, before marrying his 3rd wife, my maternal grandmother, Ethel Rosalie HATTEN, whose 1st husband was Joseph Marion WOMACK, Sr..Louis was in his 60s when my mother was born.
Once again, I don't know if there is any connection between these 3 ADAMS groups but I feel there is a strong possibility for the Elizabeth "Bettie" PIERCE's husband, ? ADAMS, to possibly be the William James ADAMS that I mentioned who married a woman named Elizabeth ?
In addition, my PIERCE-MYRICK family group also wound up in Mississippi primarily in the Jones/Jasper Counties and Simpson County area but some of them or connecting families in Covington, Perry, Amite, Lawrence, Smith, Rankin, Copiah and others.
I sthere any chance that you might have any more information on any of these connections?
Sincerely,
Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
