I may be grabbing at straws.I have traced my Adams line back solidly to Absolam Adams born about 1767 in NC.He is in the 1850 Robeson Co. NC census at the ripe old age of 83. I believe, but cannot prove that his father was an Ezekiel Adams (1742-1805) of Marion Co., SC.There is a deed which shows this Ezekiel had land given to him by his father, Willoughby Adams (1717-) in Pitt Co. NC. Research has shown that this Willoughby Adams was married to Elizabeth Weeks.Willoughby Adams Sr. had a son Willoughby Jr.(1744-).Both Willoughby Adams Sr. & Jr. are on the 1769 Craven Co. NC tax list.I don't know anything about the Jr., but because Willoughby is such a unique name, I just thought this Willoughby in Illinois might be a son of the Willoughby Jr. I'm referring to, especially since his state of birth was NC. I know this is so confusing. It doesn't sound like this is my line of Adams.Too many records have been lost I fear. Thanks for the response.
