There are a lot of similarities in your family and mine. I have been researching my Adams family around Salado TX for some time now. My gg grandfather was David Gregg Adams. He was a doctor and druggist who moved to Salado in 1871. He was born 5/17/1827 in Missourri and married Iola Capps at Marlin TX on 3/27/1862. They had 7 children: Margaret Mame Adams, Jackson Carroll (my g grandfather), Ruth Ella, 3 that died before 1880, and Hattie L Adams. We believe his father was born in Va and his mother was born in Tenn. He was a well known doctor in the Salado area. In fact, his home (the Armstrong-Adams house) was dedicated by the Texas Historical Commission and the National Register of Historic places with a marker and a medallion. He mustered troops from the area and bankrolled them and proceeded to fight in the battle of Galveston during the CW. Our problem is we have never been able to find his siblings or parents. If you or anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. At our last reunion the name Jackson Greely Adams came up but no one knew for sure anything about him.
