Thank you again for replying to my post, Mr. Adams. You are the first person I have heard from that may know something about Rebecca! This is what I have (not all proven by me):
Daniel ADAMS married Rebecca AGEE, his third wife, in ________ on July 7, 1840, and had:
John about 1841 IN
James F. about 1842 IN + Sarah
William about 1844 IN
Thomas about 1847 IN
Mary J. about 1848 IN
Henry Squire about 1851 IA + Sarah
Daniel II about 1853 + Lydia Phillips
1850 Census had them in Madison Twp, Putnam County, Indiana. Is this where they married?I’m curious about her family, if they were in TN or Indiana.I can’t find Rebecca in the 1870 census and wondered if she was with her family or one of the children.
1860 Census they are in Independence Twp, Schuyler County, MO.
- Rebecca ADAMS (41, TN), = John (19), James (17), William (15), Thomas (13), Mary (11), Squire (8, IA), Daniel (6, MO)
**************
1870 Census
I can’t find Rebecca or any of her children here now.She must be in Schuyler County, close by, or with family as she marries my Daniel Stevens on August 29, 1871.
***************
1880 Census
* Rebecca is in Independence Twp, Schuyler County, MO, with her husband Daniel Stevens.I am totally confused by the SCHAMER step-children.Rebecca’s last son with Daniel Adams was Daniel Jr. about 1853, and this Wilson Schamer was born about 1854.If Daniel Adams died in 1853 (?, she married a Schamer man and had Wilson about 1854, then she wouldn’t have been a “Rebecca Adams” on her marriage certificate to Daniel Stevens in 1871.I must be mising how this would work.I wonder if the Lavena Adams was her daughter, or daughter-in-law as the children have the Adams surname; it does not "lives with mother"...Do any of these names sound familiar?
-Daniel Stevens (59, NY), Rebecca, wife (59, TN), Wilson SCHAMER (26, MO/x/TN), stepson; Martin SCHAMER (22, MO/x/TN), stepson; Lavena ADAMS (40, MO/x/TN ), stepdaughter "lives with mother"; Step-Granddaughters:Susan E (5, MO/x/MO), Rebecca 2/12, MO,x/MO)
- Rebecca’s sons, James, Henry and Daniel are all in Elm Twp, Putnam, MO
*******************
1900 Census:I don’t know the connection of Daniel and Rebecca to this Hays family inIndependence, Schuyler, MO (ED 134, page 7a):
Isaac HAYS (Jan 1843), + Martha (Aug 1834, TN/NC/NC) = Martha A (March 1890); Daniel STEVENS, lodger (May 1822, NY/MA/MA), married 22 years + Becka (May 1824, TN/Ireland/TN), 5/7 children living.
I cannot find Daniel or Rebecca after 1900 and presume they have died or moved.Daniel has family (George Stevens) in Brushy Cemetery, so I would hope they are buried there as well (along with Daniel’s first wife, Catherine). However, they do not appear on the on-line cemetery transcripts (but neither does Daniel Adams).
That’s what I have!I only wish I lived closer than Seattle so I could go to Brushy myself.Do you think I should contact your other genealogy partner there?I’d love a local contact to compare notes with as well.It can’t hurt!
Thank you for your time,
Lauren
