I am interested in your William Adams b 1725 VA with son Nipper. I am a descendant of George Adams, son of John Adams and wife Elizabeth of the Northern Neck of Virginia. The estate papers of Elizabeth include monies paid to Nipper Adams. That Nipper is believed to have been born ca 1730 and makes one appearance in the NN records only. It is known from deeds and tax lists that Nipper had a brother William Adams, but that man was much older than your William -- likely born in 1705 or so as he had set up in his own household by 1725. The John Adams who migrated to Wilkes Co and was also born ca 1725 was actually a nephew of William Adams. However, I found your reference to the name Towlson interesting. One of the sons of John Adams of Wilkes Co married a Towson widow in NC. In addition, at the Norman family graveyard in Northumberland Co (they were close neighbors of the Adams family) there are buried several Towson-surname individuals. In addition, one John Adams listed as a 1645 headright (not yet identified but likely of the same family) by Roger Johns at Accomack mentions a John Towlson as a neighbor. I am currently awaiting estate papers from PWCo for a William Adams who died there in 1744. These papers may reveal something. I would be interested to know if you have learned anything more about your William and Nipper. The name is unusual enough that it seems likely there is a connection.
