looking at my Adams Related Land in Choctaw, I need help in figuring out my Adams which is William G and Sarah Green, If you study the map you will see all of this land nearby in the Townships.Folks are getting the WM mixed up as sons of Isaac. My William G is next to Isaac in the 1850 Census, from Images not Transcripts. Can't find any info on the older Godfrey and Thomas, there is maybe and older Isaac in MS and Clarke as well as there is a Marriage of Isaac Adams to Milly Red Clarke, and not the same as the Isaac that MArried Susan Hall in NC. All these Adams are prob from SC, and relate to the William AdamsJohannah in some way perhaps b 1740 Adams Methodist Campgrouds. I have done DNA on my William G line and would like others to test for the Adams DNA project to Sort this out Thanks. There are a lot of Files on the rootsweb link and there is a clickable map to look at land. Pretty Neat. Found the older Godfrey Land across the River from Clark. See Bottom for the Census Ref. DJ
These land records represent the transfer of public lands to private ownership. In most cases they represent purchase of the land by individuals from the United States Government. Others are the result of homesteading, Indian cessions or treaties, or bounty lands given to military veterans.
The database this introduction is appended to may contain errors the BLM has corrected as they double checked every record while scanning the documents. Once you have found an entry of interest in this database, be sure to double check it against the BLM web site.
The county designation in this database represents what county the land is in today, not what county it was at the time the individual took possession of the land, as county boundaries have changed many times over the years.
