I am searching for the parents of my Mary Adams 1772-1846 who married Joseph Howdeshell in Lincoln County, KY in 1793.
Joseph and Mary [Adams] Howdeshell removed to Washington County, KY sometime after 1796 and remained there until 1811. This Howdeshell family removed to Lincoln County, MO c1811 [Lincoln County was then St. Charles County, MO].
I got stumped looking for Mary's parentage so I started looking for other Adams that married in KY and removed to MO during that same time period. That is when I found Elizabeth Adams and Christopher Clark data [on the internet] so I started digging around in search of clues.
From the "Marriage Box, Lincoln County, KY 1787-1792" come the following:
"This is to certify you that Jane my wife is satisfied for Christopher Clark to get licence to join in wedlock with Elisabeth Adams her daughter given from under our hands December 3th, 1788"
[signed] Christopher Clark, ?aty Haner [Witnessed] John Tompson, Conrad Adams
Perhaps "Jane my wife" is an error and should be "Caty my wife" because another marriage record:
Marriage Records of Lincoln County, Kentucky 1781-1792 Name: Christ Clark Spouse: Elizabeth Adams Marriage Date: 25 Dec 1788 daughter of Katy Haner, wife of Christopher Haner --------------------------
So I went searching for Christopher or Caty Haner:
1790 Census, Lincoln County, KY: CHRISTOPHER HEYNOR
Note: Christopher Heynor was on the 1790 census of Lincoln County, KY The following Adams were also on the 1790 census: Absolom, David, Peter, William Also, there was: Adams, Caty Fayette County 12/15/1789 Note: Elizabeth Adams Clark names a son David as well as my Mary Adams Howdeshell [BTW: David was NOT a Howdeshell name].
Do you know who these other Adams were?
Conrad Adams witness the marriage between Elizabeth Adams and Christoper, Perhaps Coonrad was Elizabeth Adams' brother?
I cannot tie to Mary Adams Howdeshell at all.
He did witness the marriage of Elizabeth Adams to Christopher Clark so he has got to be related. Then there is Caty/Katy Haner as Elizabeth Adams mother [another clue].
I found this post on the internet [I emailed the author but their email in no longer active]: Post: I am searching for information about Elizabeth Adams who married Christopher Clark 12-25-1788 in Lincoln Co. Ky. At the time of her marriage, her father was deceased. Her mother was Katy Honer, wife of Christopher Honer. I would like to hear from anyone with information about this family. So perhaps Elizabeth Adams mother was Catherine/Caty/Katy who married Christopher Haner and Coonrad/Conrad was Elizabeth's brother?
I searched for postings on Coonrad or Conrad Adams and found:
Looking for connections to Phillip/Philip Adams b. abt.1735 (PA or NC) that married Catherine?
At some point in time, this couple ended up in or around Lincoln/Catawba County, NC.
