Samuel Adams, 2nd cousin to Pres. John Adams was b. 16 sept. 1722.His parents were Mary(Fifield)& Samuel Adams (sr).Young Samuel named after his father was always called "Young Samuel". Never Sam,except in the deogratory. Young Samuel received his undergraduate degree from Harvard at age 17 and his masters degree, July 1743. He married Elizabeth Checkley, Oct. 17, 1749 by the Rev. Samuel Checkley, the brides father.They produced six children, two of which died within three months and one, a son was stillborn, July 6, 1757. Samuel III & Hannah lived into adulthood.Elizabeth Adams d. three weeks after the stillbirth.Seven and a half years later, Samuel married 2nd,to Elizabeth Wells,Dec. 6, 1764, who he called "Betsy."
