Hi -- My great-great grandfather was Henry Clay Adams, born in Troy, NY in 1836. He was a Methodist minister, as was his father before him, and possibly his grandfather. He moved to the midwest, fought in the Civil War with an Iowa regiment, then after the war moved to Illinois and married Flora Ross. He lived in the Champaign, Il area, had 4 children and died in 1899. I don't know his father's name or his mother's name, or anything about his siblings. Do you think this might be the same as your Henry Clay Adams?
