I am researching Ezekiel Adams, b. ca. 1825 in GA. 1870 Census of Duval County, FL (Yellow Bluff community) Page 582 Ezekiel C. ADAMS, age 45, born in GA, farmer Martha E.","42, born in GA, working in home Willoughby","23, born in GA, farmer Wright E.","21, born in GA, farmer Didannie","19, born in GA, Martha C.","10, born in FL Elige","8, born in FL John D.","6, born in FL William K.","2, born in FL Minnie L.",2, born in FL
My guess is that this family moved to FL about 1860 since Martha C. Adams was the first child born in FL. In a family diary of a nephew of Ezekiel Adams it is quoted that he (the nephew) went to live with his Uncle Zeek of Jacksonville and work in his store. This nephew was the child of Clementine (Adams) Bowen of Baker County, FL and this nephew, Benjamin Franklin Bowen was born about 1862.B.F.'s father Bennett Bowen died in the Georgia Confederate Army during the Civil War and his mother let her brother Ezekiel and others in her Adams family assist in raising her children. I am trying to connect Ezekiel Adams who was born about 1825 to the family of William Riley Adams, b. ca 1802.I think he is Ezekiel's father since they all used Willoughby as a child's name.William Riley Adams was from S. Georgia and had a son named Willoughby Adams. Anyone who can shed some proof of light on this family I would appreciate it.
