I don't know how to help but i may be interested in doing the same thing.

My mother's maiden name is Adams, she comes from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, my Grandfathers parents and brothers and sisters are dead so i don't know how to find out anything.
I do know that they are the Adams part of the Gordons.
