Thank you for replying - if you would like to e.mail me at WJulesWade@aol.com I will send you information explaining why my cousins and I believe that ABDY/ABDEY/ADDY/ADBY began as one. With the Abdy/Abdey variation we are pretty sure that it began in Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire, England. We also know that a branch of ADDY was started at the same time - not sure if there are other roots though.I personally feel there may definitely be French origins and possibly German but this is only my assumption.I think you will find that we also have Abdy marrying Addy but cannot think where at the moment.
In our own tree we have a Richard Abdey 1771-1825, he had two marriages one of which was an Elzabeth Page 1777-1858, one of their sons they named William PAGE Abdey, using the Page as a christian name. It may just be a coincidence that Addy has the name Page as well but all avenues are worth investigating. I do have a few Addy addresses and information on the name so please e.mail me.My C drive is folding at the moment and I am trying to back up my info. Will get back to you stratight away if I am able. Julie.
