I am a direct decendant of Joseph Addy who was born in Switerland and immigrated in the late 1800's to the New Baltimore area in Michigan (northwest of Detroit on Lake St. Clair.I do not have my geneology report with me presently (it is quite detailed and exciting to read, as dictated to us by my great grandfather, John Louis Addy, Sr. in the late 1960's), but from memory, Joseph had a son, John Louis Addy, Sr. (my great grandfather) who had several children (Richard (Penny), John Jr., (Phyllis), William, Thomas, Marie, et al).John Louis Addy Jr. was my grandfather, born in the Detroit area in 1917 and later attended both De La Salle High School and University of Detroit.John Jr. married Phyllis Vanleburgh (same family as widely known Detriot-area Vanleburgh Funeral Home owners). The two raised their family in Grosse Pointe Park, MI on Kensington St.Their children are John L. III (Linda), Carole (Charles - d.1991), Kathy (Tom), James (Marilyn - divorced 1983 and are my parents), Phillip (Cathy), Paul - d. 1992, and Patrick (Denise).
My parents are James Addy, b. 1945 and Marilyn Monette, b. 1947.They birthed Debra, b. 1967 (Robert) and myself, Steven, b. 1968 (Lydia).I grew up in the same Kensington house that my dad, James, did after he bought the place from my his dad, John Jr.
Today, this branch of the Addy family work together at the family business, Addy Machinery Company (see www.addymachinery.com).The business was founded by John Sr. in 1918 here in Detroit and it continues to thrive.
Please let me know if you would like a fax of the detailed geneology report handed down to me.
