I am working on the tree of Jacob's Father William "Wilson" Adkins.
My great grandfather was Isiah Adkins of Lincoln County, brother of Jacob. Their father was William "Wilson" Adkins. B. 1815 Greenbrier (1850 Boone Census), Cabell in Ronnie Adkins Book. Married Elizabeth Miller, d.o. Jacob Miller, ca. 1840, Rock Creek,Boone Co. Children are (1) Levi b. 1824, d.1903, m.Elizabeth Halstead, (2) Mary Ann, b. 1843, d. 1928, m. Francis Marion Javins, 1879, (3) Isiah, b 1847, d. 1926, md. Elizabeth Mahan and Sarah Jane Ferrell, (4) Elizabeth, d. 1916, m. Andrew Jack Holstein, 1864, (5) Joseph M., b. 1853, d. 1930, m. Sarah Mahan and Celia Hatfield, (6)Nancy Leona, b. 1853, d. 1886, md. Andrew Elkins, 1874, (7) David Franklin, b. 1857, d. 1940, md. Martha Epling and others (?). I have much more information such as his records of capture during the civil war, his imprisonment at Camp Chase Military Prison in Columbus Ohio (I was able to get the US Army to place a monument on his grave-not previously shown but found in old National Archive Records in DC.
In addition, I have verbal family information from the Atkins group on Rock Creek (our family members used both spellings) that Wilson may have been a Meadows (adopted???).Other information indicates a connection with William Adkins who married Elizabeth Meadows. The following comes from Ronnie Adkins Book, page 41-42: "William Adkins s/o Randolph and Charity Adkins Adkins, b. ca 1796; Montgomery Co (Giles) VA, m. Elizabeth Meadows ca 1816. Thy were on the 1820, 183o, 1840, 1850, and 1860 Cabell Co. census. William was on the 1880 Lincoln Co. census living in the home of his daughter Francis and her husband, William Allbright. William was a Baptist minister for over 50 years. William d. post 1880 and Elizabeth d. post 1870; both probably in Lincoln Co."
I have a copy of the security bond the day of the wedding of William and Elizabeth, August 19, 1815(signed by Samuel Guinn, and John Meadows), and the approval of marriage by her father Mathias Meadows on August 17, 1815. Ronnie Adkins book also gives the lineage back to Parker Adkins through Charity Adkins and William Adkins. In addition he lists the children. I am interested in determining if William "Wilson" Adkins was also a son of William.
Any help would be appreciated Any help would be appreciated
