Naomi, I found a John Henry Adkins born about 1870, but do not have information on who he married or his children.I show that he was the son of John Richard Adkins and Frances M.
John Richard Adkins was the son of Henry Adkins and Elizabeth Gillaspie of Franklin Co., VA, who settled in Callaway county, MO in the early 1850's.They lived in Boydsville, Round Prairie Township, MO, and my g.g.g.grandfather John Amos Adkins was no doubt a cousin of Henry.John A.'s son...my g.g.grandfather John Henry Adkins and ggggrandmother Elizabeth Leftwich, moved to Cedar Township, Englewood, MO...just across Cedar Creek that separates Boydsville from Englewood. They came with John A. and Susan to Callaway Co., but must have moved on over to Englewood in the next year or two (about 1858).
I don't know if this helps you or not.I always thought that Henry Adkins was the brother of John A., as John A. had a brother Henry, but there are descendants of Henry Adkins who live in Oklahoma, who say "no".I will be glad to put you in touch with Phyllis Murphy, who is the descendant of Henry Adkins. Please e-mail me at:firstname.lastname@example.org for Phyllis' e-mail address.
So sorry to be so long in answering you.Your message was sent to an old address and I just happened to check it tonight.
