Hi Janice, Periodically I check the Adkins' gen forum because my own family came from Franklin Co., VA to Callaway County, Missouri.I decided to do a little sleuthing for you and checked out the 1910 US Census, about when I thought your g.grandmother would show up with Peter Graves.
Jack pot, I hope. Are you sure about the spelling of ARRA BELLE ADKINS.I found an ANNA M. married to Peter M. Graves in 1910 and 1920.Haven't checked the 1930 yet.
Peter is listed in 1910 as 38 years old, and Anna is listed as 48 years old.By the way, the 1920 census shows the "M" standing for MARY.
There is a PETER M. GRAVES and ANNA M. (do you think you looked at the spelling of her name and thought it was "Arra"?), living in Savannah, Andrew County, Nodaway Township, Missouri.I would say that this has to be your great grandparents. The name of ANNA BELLE, could have been an endearment or nickname...by adding "Belle" after it.This often happened.Same way with my grandfather's sister ADA DOUGLAS.They called her Ada Belle!
Anyway...the names of the children are:
James N. 13 yrs. old Otto M.11 yrs. old Maggie10 yrs. old George W.9 yrs. old Clyde F.8 yrs. old Missouri (female, and alot of parents were naming a daughter by the name of the state. Some changed the spelling to Missouria for a girl)6 yrs. old Emma D. 5 yrs. old Mary S. 3 yrs. old
Does any of this look familiar to you??Does your grandparent show up here. There are more names listed for children in the 1920, though Anna was already up there in age.
