Every year on the 2nd Sunday in June - this year June 10th from 9am to 6pm - the Fallsburg/Lawrence Co Settlers meet in Fallsburg to compare notes, update genealogy files and just enjoy each other's company.
We'll be there - my husband Ed and myself - as well as many others and we'd love to see you there also.
My line of ADKINSs goes back as follows:
grandfather Jesse Hubert CHAFFIN s/o Clementine 'Tina' ADKINS & Jesse Marion CHAFFIN d/o William Tolbert ADKINS & Martha Ann ADKINS (William Tolbert and Martha Ann were 2nd cousins - William Tolbert s/o Allen ADKINS & Fanny McNEELY (missing/murdered??? from Lincoln/Logan Co., VA/WV between the years 1862 & 1869) s/o Elias ADKINS & Susannah FRY s/o Hezekiah ADKINS & Mary LEVON s/o Parker ADKINS & Mary LNU (last name unknown) Martha Ann ADKINS d/o Isaiah ADKINS & Mary Jane TONEY s/o Isaac ADKINS Sr & Elizabeth 'Betsy' ADKINS s/o Hezekiah ADKINS & Mary LEVON
I believe that William Tolbert and Martha Ann ADKINS left the Little Harts Creek area of Lincoln/Logan Co., WV as soon as they married in 1869...?? because of his parents' disappearance or just due to the troubles of the area??I'm not sure. His older brother Aaron and his family remained in that area and still has descendants there today. For whatever reason, Bill and Martha moved to the Blaine, Lawrence Co., KY area and all of their 5 children were born there in the 1870/early 1880s.They moved back to WV about 1901-03 to the Crete/Crockett area of Miller's Fork in Wayne Co., WV and as far as I know they never went back to the Little Hart's Creek area.
