I am so glad tht genforum added this name to their family list. I feel it is an important Colonial name. The ingegrity of the name was compromised, sometimes in the same record. In this record it was spelled Egborough.

To all &c. Whereas &c. Now know yee that I the said Sir William Berkeley &c. give and grant unto Mr. Richard Quiney three hundred Acres of Land scituate lyeing and being in the County of James City upon the upper Chipoakes bounded vizt North upon the Creeke south and East upon the Land of Mr. William EGBOROUGH west southerly upon the Land of Jerremy Dickinson, The said Land being due unto him the said Richard Quiny by and for the Transportation of six persons into the Colony &c to have and to hold &c. which payment is to be made seven yeares after the first grant or seating thereof &c. Dated the 9th of ffebruary 1649. Examined.
