This is VERY intriguing! My 3rd great grandfather, William Agee, married his wife, Martha Burnett, on 1 December, 1831, in Putnam county, Indiana.Their first five children - Mary Ann, Richard, Elizabeth, Matilda Jane and Benjamin - were born in Indiana.(I assume they were born in Putnam, but I really don't know for sure.)Sometime between about 1842 and 1844 the family moved to Buchanan county, Missouri, and then eventually on into Doniphan county, Kansas, which is where William died in 1857.
Several Agee researchers gave me information on William's ancestors, which came from the book The Agee Register by Louis N. Agee.(I've been told that there are a lot of errors in this book, so I can't be certain how correct the information is.)William's parents are suppose to be Benjamin Agee and Mrs. Sarah (Clark) Parker. Three children are listed for them in the book and they are: 1) My ancestor, William - b. 1802, in Knox co., TN; 2) Sarah, b. 1804 [I found a marriage listing on-line for a Sarah Agee to Elam Howren, 8-14-1830 in Union co., IN.That could be the marriage for this Sarah.]; and 3) John, b. 12-25-1806, married Elizabeth Smith on 7-31-1831 in Putnam county, IN, and d. 1866 in Putnam co., MO.Their father, Benjamin, is said to have been b. 1764/1769 in Buckingham co., VA, married Sarah in 1800 in Smith co., TN, and ended up in Union co., IN.I know that a Benjamin Agee was living in Union co., Indiana during the 1830 census, but I haven't been able to get a look at that census.
There must be some relationship between my Agee's and the ones you mentioned in your posting.I wonder if my William is the William you found in the 1840 census?Would you mind letting me know what the census information for that William is - I might be able to figure out if it is him or another William Agee.I am also intrigued by the Michael Agee Will that you mentioned.Do you have any knowledge as to the date of that Will?I would love to get a look at that Will!
Well, I hope I haven't confused the matter even more! There is certainly some connection between your Agee's and mine.We just have to figure out what it is:-)
