Judy:
Glad to hear from you.I don't know if your husband and I are related but we can try and find out. My father's name is Ausencio Aguilar, his father was Sixto Aguilar. My mother's maiden name is Davila and my great grandfather on my mothers side was Pablo Davila. There is a city near Laredo,Tx called Aguilares. It is still there. If this is the same ranch you are talking about, we might be related. It started out as " El Rancho de los Aguilares" It was started by three brothers, two of which were Gabino Aguilar and Nicorand
I am not sur eon hte spelling of the second brother.I cannot remember the name of the third brother. The ranch was about 30-40 thousand acres and it is where the current city of Aguilares is now. The brothers came form Spain and stsrted the ranch in what at that time was still under the flag of Mexico.
When the US-Mexican war came around, one of the brothers who had run into problems with the law (supposed to have killed a man who messed around with his wife)decided to go deeper into Mexico. All the brothers went with him and they abandoned the ranch. After the war, the ranch became part of Texas and various land owners took over after they paid the property taxes to the US govn. This story has been told to me by my uncle, who is kinda the family historian. We had a web site for our section of the family, but it has since gone offline. My daughter has shown a great interest in me getting the web page back up. If you think your husband and I are related, please forward any history we might not have. I probably will get the web page back up and I will let you know. Good luck in your search. Keep in touch. My family and I currently live in Abbeville, Louisiana and I am writing to you from my current project in New Orleans. I am in the oil business and travle a lot. We hope to go to Spain in two years and look for our family name and wher in Spain it started.
Regards
Robert Aguilar
