I am searching for ancestors of William R. Aiken of Fairfield and Richland County, SC and have hit a roadblock.
According to the 1880 census, he was 67 yrs old. His wife is listed as Mary A. Aiken (39 yrs old) and his children are as follows: Margret20 yrs old John16 yrs old Boliver14 yrs old Martha A. 12 yrs old Emiline11 yrs old Major6 yrs old James5 yrs old
James Aiken is my ggrandfather. The two names that would set this William Aiken apart from the others would be Major and Boliver/Bolivar since they are not "typical" Aiken names. In the 1850 census, his wife is listed as Mary E. and this may be his first wife since their age difference is not consistent with any subsequent census.
I also suspect that this William Aiken may be the son of James Aiken (b1773 d1804) who is the son of James and Elizabeth Reid Aiken. However, I can not find information on that William Aiken to prove/disprove that theory.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
