Hi jane, It was great to hear back so quickly. I'll rack my brains to tell all i know but will have maybe more info in next week or so. Great g father Thomas Aiken (and possibly a brother ) may have been remittance men but my grandfather never gave more history than that. Ggfather Thomas Aiken married Sarah Larmour at S.S. Simon and Jude Church Randwick 26/12/1881. Sarahs family were living in the Como (Georges River Syd) area at the time of her marriage and the couple remained there probably for most of the remainder of their days. Thomas and Sarah had 2 sons , Thomas Andrew(my gfather, married Lillian Rivett) and Frank(Frances ) T.A. Aiken had 2 daughters but Frank and wife Eileen had no children. Frank and wife remained in Georges River area and my gparents also did till the late 30s when moved to Collaroy Plateau. My ggfather and his father were carpenter/builders and traveled alot up and down coast t work. Only other evidence of extended family at present is letter from Faithy? Aiken Millbrook 1914 Aunt or Uncle of my grandfather, mentions coming to San Francisco and an Aunt in N.Z. Perhaps a cousin Bella in Australia. Sorry this info is all over the place. Stay in touch. Do you have anymore links - where do you fit in?
