John Aindow
I don't know if I'm related to anyone on here. I'm from Londonbut my grandfather was Gerald Aindow born in Formby in 1919, eldest of 12. I discovered that one of my relatives was Charles Aindow also of Formby who died on the Lusitania in 1917. He is buried in Formby Catolic cemetry. I've just come back from ypres in Belgium where I saw the name of John Aindow on the Tyne Cot memorial. I believe him to be the nephew of Charles. Both died in 1917, Charles was 37 and John was 19. John's body was never found at Ypres and he is listed on the memorial with some other 33,000 other names of those lost in that campaign and who have no known grave. I was wondering whether any of this sounds familiar. Interestingly there were only 6 Aindows lost in world war one out of the 1 million dead british. The others are also listed as coming from Formby.
