James Monroe Ainsworth was the son of Jeptha Patterson "Pat" Ainsworth, b. April 8, 1816 in MS Territory (most likely what is now the Washington/Sumner/Marengo County area of AL), d. February 2, 1882 in Wilson Co., TX and Louisa Mary Collins, b. April 8, 1815 in GA,d. September 9, 1900 in McCullough Co., TX.They were married on April 21, 1838 in Madison Co., MS. He used the Hainsworth spelling on his marriage record. (This was common for the Ainsworths who came from this part of AL.)
Nobody has ever positively identified the parents of Jeptha Patterson but Louisa was the daughter of Jacob Collins and Lucy Hendricks.
Jeptha "Pat" arrived in TX on October 24, 1838 along with his brother Asbury Sebastian Ainsworth (married to Rachel Collins), brother-in-law, James P. Collins (married to Eliza G. Ainsworth), and cousins, George M. Reese and John I. Lee.The Sabine Land Commission Report located in the Land Commissioners Office in Austin, TX gives the above date and shows that each of these men were granted 640 acres.
