In October of 1998, you requested information on PHILAMAHAW and ALSIACANSADIE AINSWORTH.
According to my Ainsworth kin, who was born PHILAMAHAW was actually one THOMAS HAINSWORTH/ AINSWORTH, who was born in Cheraw District, SC, and later moved to Washington Co., Alla., with his parent(s).He was a brother to my ancestor, JAMES P. HAINSWORTH/ AINSWORTH SR., and aa brother to LEVIN HAINSWORTH JR., and to JOSEPH HAINSWORTH.
These men are most likely sons the sons of LEVIN HAINSWORTH, SR. (NOT JR.) They may have had Indian blood, but not likely Choctaw blood. They were born in SC, far from Choctaw country.
But THOMAS AINSWORTH (PHILLLIMMAHAYS, as spelled by Ainsworth kin) lived in Choctaw country for many years; his wife SARAH FINCH might have has Choctaw blood; and he was doing business with the Choctaw tribe.I have found him listed as PHILLLE MAH HAYO in Choctaw records.
(Another thought: the Choctaw may have made him an honorary member; this was sometimes the custom.)
You also asked about ALSIACANSADIE. She was the daughter of THOMAS AINSWORTH (PHILLIMAHAYS) and SARAH FINCH AINSWORTH.I’m told that the correct spelling was AINSLEY CANZADA.
If you want my sources and other close kin of this pair, please write to mem as I’m not on the Internet: Shirley Insall Pieratt, 301 E. James St., Boerne, Texas 78006.
