Found this information in the records of the Confederate Army:
46th Tennessee Infantry, Company E
"Isaac Akers, lst Cpl., age 39, Captured at Island No. 10, sent to Camp Douglas, Ill. Exchanged 23 Sept. 1862 at Vicksburg, Ms. Discharged at Port Hudson, La. 30 April 1863, he was overage. Lived in the 23rd District of Henry Co., Tn., Lick Creek area. Wife, Sarah Akers, Parents were Isaac and Lucinda Akers, born in Ala. Isaac Jr. was a bricklayer by trade."
It is my understanding that soldiers were required to list the names of their parents when joining the Confederate Army. Not sure if the above info indicates that Isaac,Jr, was born in Alabama or his father was born in Alabama or both parents were born in Alabama.
Trying to research the family of Isaac Akers. Some of his children moved to Blythville, AR, in Mississippi County. Wondering if any kinfolk still live in Henry County, TN? Any help would be appreciated.
