I have a William Akers in my family genealogy. He was born on May 6, 1805 in KY and died March 31, 1870. He first married Sarah "Rebecca" Fiksher on Nov. 9, 1825.She was born March 24, 1804.Seven children were born to this union.Rebecca died Feb. 8, 1838 giving birth to the seventh child, Julia Rebecca, who also died at birth.
William came to MO after Rebecca's death and on Oct. 14, 1841 he married Sarah Taylor.Sarah was of Indian heritage and had changed her Indian name, Sally Taloe, to Sarah Taylor. She was always referred to as Sally, and was born about 1815 in TN. Word hasbeen passed down thru the generations that she was a full blooded Indian, believed to be of the Cherokee Tribe. William and Sally were married in MO in Gasconade Co at that time it is believed. There were ten children born to this union. The third child was Margaret Ann born Feb. 28, 1848. I have always been told that she married an INKS and moved to AR.If you are a descendant of Margaret, I would be so thrilled to hear from you. ------Leland Wilkins
