Hello, I am secretary to the Levens [Cumbria] Local History Group. I have transcribed some deeds for the old smithy in Levens [formerly known as Beathwaite Green] and the following may be of interest to you.

19 February 1842 – Indenture between John Wakefield of Sedgwick House Esquire [1] John Akister of Force in Sedgwick, Mason [2]
Consideration £35
All that messuage or tenement or smith’s shop with the garden and all other appurtenances thereunto belonging situate lying and being at Beathwaite Green …
And now in the occupation of Alexander Kirkbride

An 1863 abstract of the title of James Akister to two dwelling houses gardens outbuildings and appurtenances at Beathwaite Green includes
A] John Akister died intestate leaving his widow Anne and the said James Akister his eldest son and heir
B] Ann Akister married Daniel Storey in December 1851
C] November 1863 – Declaration by Peter Addison:
‘I am 59 years of age and have lived in BG upwards of 55 years. That I know and am well acquainted with a certain smithy or blacksmiths shop now in the occupation of { } Brockbank and that the same with a piece or parcel of garden ground behind and on the south side of the same was purchased by the late John Akister from John Wakefield Esq in 1842. That a piece of waste land adjoining the said smithy was soon after the said purchase allotted to the said John Akister and that he erected 2 cottages or dwellinghouses on part land which are now occupied by George Kilner and { } Brockbank. All which said premises are shown on the plan annexed coloured pink. Declaration that the land and cottages remained in the ‘peaceable possession of the said John Akister from the time of the allotment for 20 years and upwards’.

29 December 1863 – Indenture between James Akister of Cavanin the county of Durham Upper Canada [1] Robert Philipson of Beathwaite Green shopkeeper [2]
Consideration £204 to James Akister and £20 to Anne Storey
Conveyance of two cottages gardens and a smithy at Beathwaite Green.
