Thanks John, I knew there were Akester/Akisters in Cumbriabut had no details .I have info on Akesters in Aberford in the 1730's which is where I have got stuck researching the Akesters who all appear to originate from Robert Akester and Elizabeth Waff in Holy Trinity church Hull. I cannot find where he was born-but it would appearthat he was not from the parish
I use Family Treemaker for my family tree. It uses Gedcom files which seem very exportable. The names John and Thomas feature a great deal in my tree,which has about 400 names including Quebec, Us. Australia and obviously many still in Yorks.
