Eakin(Akin) immigration story,1800's
Family history is that 5 Eakin brothers came to America about 1800 through New York. I do not
know names or ages or if they brought family with them. First record I have is of the widow
Nancy Eakin b.about 1820 S.C. and living with her 2nd. husband George Stingley in Attala
Co.Miss in 1850 The widow Nancy Eakin had 3 Eakin Children, Margaret b.1837, Ana b. 1838,
and John Marshall b. 1841 and (the only Eakin male). These children were all born in Miss. So this
leads me to believe that the father of these Eakin children (if he married at age 20) would have
been born about 1817 and living in Miss by 1837. The immigration story is what I would like to
learn more about and perhaps help me find who Nancy(????) Eakin was married too. If this story
is in your family history please contact me by e-mail at [email protected] Although our name has always been spelled EAKIN I felt that someone with only a female Eakin marring into family may not have the correct spelling of the name of our family branch of the tree.
Thank You,
