I have been studying descendants of Derrick Albertson (1650-1684) of Mosquito Cove(now GlenCove, Long Island NY and believe that his granddaughter Elizabeth Alberson married about 1652 Jesse WILLITS of Sampawums Neck(now Babylon) south shore Huntington LI. At least one article in the NYGBR states that he is the son of Nicholas Albertson (called the Swede) of Scituate MA.
I now find that Derrick could easily be Dirk Albertsen Bradt born 1650 Albany NY and still alive in 1678 but assumed to be unmarried by the descendants of his father Albert Andriessen Bradt(the Noorman born Fredrikstadt NORWAY) and Annetje Barentse Rottmers of Oudebroeck, Germany.
Derrick's widow Willmeth(possibly daughter of Nicholas SNETHEN of Bergen NJ) remarried to Jurrian Roots of Oyster Bay LI.Does anyone have any other possibilities for the origin of Derrick Albertson? And is Jurrian Roots(Jurriean RUTSEN?) just another Dutchman from New Netherlands? The sons Derrick, Garret and William Albertson married into English Long Island families.
