Joshua Albertson was indentured to my ancestor Jesse Burton in 1823, after the death of his mother Mary Albertson. He was released from the indenture in 1830, when he was presumably of age. However, he may have been living with Jesse Burton since birth, as Jesse showed a male under 10 in his family in the 1810 Rowan County Census, and Jesse had no record of having any boys.(His three girls by wife Sarah Kennedy were born 1818-1822.)
In Guilford County, Jesse Burton and Thomas Burton were bound for $100 on 20 November 1820: Jesse was administrator of the estate of Mary Albertson, and Thomas was evidently his surety.Jesse Burton filed his final account at Nov 1822 term of court, which was accepted on 9 Jan 1823 by JPs P Horney and Isaac Odell.
In a Guilford County Land Division of the lands of Thomas Burton, dated 15 Feb 1861 and filed in Deed Book 38, page 130, distribution was made to 1) William Burton; 2) Michal Kelley and wife Laurie June; 3) Pleasant Burton; 4) Levi Burton; 5) Joseph C Burton; 6) Joseph Burton as assigned by Thomas Burton; 7: Washington Howrin and wife Sarah; 8) Joshua Albertson and wife Mary. The division was done d16 Feb 1861 by John Gardner, Joseph Armfield, W L Lamb, T S Reece, and James Stilles.
