I was just wondering, who in the NS family of ALBRO gave their name to Albro Lake which I suppose was part of a large grant of land way back then ?
The lake, roughly ½ mile long and maybe ¼ mile wide, is today part of Dartmouth, NS which used to be a separate city but is now part of Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). There is a Little Albro Lake and also a Martin's Lake that empties into the big lake (who was the Martin it was named after ?).
Dartmouth was founded in 1750, one year after Halifax, and the land around Albro Lake and Albro Lake Road, which runs from the harbour to it, were not developed into residential areas until the 1960's.
