The Aldays seem to begin with John Allday who married Elizabeth Perrin appox 1695 in Henrico Co, Vir.John was born before 1660 as he witnessed a Benjamin Hatcher deed in Oct 1681. He was left 10 shillings in the will of Thomas Howell in 1697.He witnessed the will of Robert Hancock in 1708.He purchased land on Cornelius Creek in Dec 1697.He still had that land in Sept of 1712.John died sometime between Sept 1712 and Mar 1715.His widow, Elizabeth, who is the daughter of Thomas and Anne Perrin, had married by Mar 1715, Seth Hatcher. On the home page of Nel Hatcher:http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/ it is posted that Elizabeth and Seth moved around 1720 and settled in Orangebury Twp, Berkeley Co, SC.Elizabeth died shortly after Sept 1748.Elizabeth and Seth had two children, Sarah who married 1st John Fuster and 2ed John Clayton and Rachel who married Emanuel Mineor. These would be the Alday's half sisters.I have the children of John Allday and Elizabeth Perrin as:#1 JOHN who was born appox 1695.He witnessed a deed of Seth Hatcher and his mother Elizabeth in Jun 1716.He did the inventory of Philip Martin in May of 1717.This John also witnessed a deed of his aunt (Martha Cardwell) in Aug 1729.This John Allday gave land in Feb 1744/5 to his DAUGHTER MARY, wife of John Williams and then to their son John Williams. This land is on Sampsons Slash which is the same land that his mother, Elizabeth Perrin was given by her mother, Anne Perrin in her will dated 1711. A John Allday dies in appox Oct 1759.His will is presented by Josiah Alday, the exe, and proven by Luzby Turpin and Jacob Burton. This John Allday has 4 sons: John, Peter, Benjamin and Thomas.John could not have been born before 1740, as he is bound out in 1761.Benjamin and Thomas could not have been born before 1742 as they are bound out in 1763.Peter is bound out in 1763 and again in 1768 putting his birth after 1747.This John Alday (who dies in 1759) is the John Alday who married a daughter of Benjamin Burton.Looking back at the deed from John Allday to his daughter Mary in 1744/5, it seems impossible that he could have had so many children under age 16 years later.Could the daughter of Benjamin Burton be a second wife?Maybe this John belongs in the 3rd generation?CHILD #2: SARAH who in Feb 1719 says she is 21 and begs her share of her father's , John Allday, estate. The estate is granted to her. This puts her birth at 1698.The only other thing I have on her is in Aug 1743, the will of Richard Sims is witnessed by Perrin Allday, he refused exe but was security for Sarah Sims.Could this be Sarah Alday? CHILD #3: PERRIN, I have Perrin as a child because of his name. Thanks to a posting by Ann Stacy I also know that he stated later in life that he was born in 1700, so the dates are right for him to be a child of John and Elizabeth.Perrin patents land in 1749 and again in 1764 in Lunenbury Co, Vir.UNCONNECTED ALLDAYS:Who is Josiah Aldy who was the exe of John Alday's will in 1759.Is he the same Josiah who went into Georgia?Does anyone have an age for the Johiah? In Jan 1750 a Thomas Allday witnessed a Giles deed.In Aug 1753 a John and Thomas Alday Jr do the inventory of John West. (Meaning there is a Thomas Sr?)Counting the Thomas Alday who was bound out in 1763 (son of John) that would mean there are at least 3 Thomas Aldays of the period. One of the Thomas Aldays of the 1750 or 1753 deeds had died by May 1765 and Jacob Burton (son of Benjamin and brother to the daughter who married John Alday) had the guardianship of Mary Alday.Jacob Burton had also died by this time and Mary Alday chose Josiah Bullington as her guardian. In Aug 1767 William Clopton, who married Mary Alday, orphan of Thomas Alday dec'd of who Josiah Burlington was guardian came and acknowledged receipt of estate. That Jacob Burton was Mary's guardian seems to imply a relationship.Looking at Benjamin Burton's will I see that he names grandson Benjamin Alday. He just names John Alday, not stating the relationship.Could Thomas have also married a Burton?Or could Thomas be a elder son of John making Mary Jacob Burton's great niece? When Mary also chose Josiah Bullington as her guardian, that also implies a relationship. It also brings to mind Josiah Alday.Does anyone know of a Bullington connection to this family?I invite all questions and comments.
