Hello Aldays-in-Donalsonville Cousins. I'm a descendant of Lorsa Louisa Alday and Simeon Jackson Smith. Lorsa Louisa Alday's parents were Green Benjamin Alday (b. 5-13-1846, d. 8-30-1932) and Georgia Ann Johnson (his first wife; b. 4-3-1845, d. 12-21-1905). Lorsa's siblings were Joseph Horton Alday (1867-1932), Mary Melvina "Mell" Alday Lynn (1873-1857), Daniel Homer Alday (1868-1941), Henry Franklin Alday (1972-1949), Georgia Alday (1877-1892), Robert Alday (1878-1893), Green Byron Alday (1879-1952), and John West Alday (1882-1937). Green Benjamin Alday and his second wife, Mrs. Henrietta Elizabeth McCulloch/Adams had 3 more Alday children: Thomas Leroy Alday (1908-1944), James Crawford Alday (1910-1978), and Ethel Alday Howell (1912-???).
Lorsa Louisa Alday (b. 2-16-1885, d. 2-21-1953) and her first husband, Simeon "Jack" Smith (b. 4-27-1871, d. 9-17-1911), had 11 children. She and her second husband, George King, did not have any children. Their children includedBenjamin Nathan (my grandfather), Joe Ed, Chester, Elizabeth "Lizzie", Jude, Addie, and others. Benjamin Nathan married Annie Laurie McCarty. They had 3 children: Benjamin Nathan Smith, Jr; Juanita; and Ruby. My Aunts Nita Griffin and Ruby Bates live in Tampa. My father died in 1979. My brother Bob (4 kids, 10 grandkids) lives in San Diego. My mother, Ethel Zimmermann Smith died last month. I live in Las Cruces, NM; my son lives in Corpus Christi, TX. FYI, Jack Smith's parents were Lovett Bryant Smith (1849-1913) and Sarah Ann M. Gause (1851-1914).
I have more info about the Aldays (e.g., birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and Smiths, but it's approaching midnight; I'm tired; and all of that can wait for another message if you or any of the other of my distant cousins are interested.
