Hard bound book entitled: THE ALDERFERS OF AMERICA HISTORY AND GENEALOGY By Helen Alderfer Stanley, Printed Allentown Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, 1972 by Schlechters. First edition, out of print.
Book cronicles the history of this Mennonite name from its earliest roots in Zurich Switzerland and Steinsfurt in the Kraichgau region of Germany to Frederick and Anna Alderfer pioneer settlers of Lower Salford Philadelphia County arriving in 1733. Photographic illustrations and line drawings include an early Alderfer owned book, (with Alderfers name written in the old fraktur schrift or font), the Alderfer grist mill, Alderfers schoolhouse, Salford Mennonite Meetinghouse, and more, plus a fold out genealogical chart showing the earliest known Alderfers in Europe from time of Martin Luther Zwingli, and others during the Reformation. Chapters contain great history on Alderfer homesteads, life in picturesque Salford Township, now Harleysville, detailed histories of many of the Alderfers and related nine generations of the Pennsylvania German Alderfer family in America. Some information on Lancaster County area Alderfers too.
Many Mennonite, Schwenckfelder, German Reformed, Lutheran, and Brethren names such as: Of course Alderfer, Allebach, Auchy, Babcock, Barber, Bergey, Bower, Bucher, Bishop, Blank, Cassel, Clemens, Clymer, Coffin, Cutter, Delp, Dean, Cook, Derstine, Derstein, Detweiler, Dock, Drissel, Fischer, Freed, Fretz, Frey, Geisinger, Gehman, Fryer, Goshow, Godshall, Gottshall, Gottshalk, Groff, Greaser, Haas, Hackman, Halteman, Hagey, Kauffman, Keller, Kratz, Kolb, Kulp, Kriebel, Landis, Landes, Lapp, Lewis, Mack, Markley, Moyer, Meyer, Myer, Nyce, Price, Ruth, Reiff, Schultz, Souder, Sauder, Stauffer, Shelly, Stoudt, Wampole, Tyson, Swartley, Underkoffler, Yoder, Zeller, Ziegler and more are all studied for the Genealogist or family historian.
