I've recently begun to research my Alderman roots - I apparently descend from Susannah Alderman, who married Hezekiah Holcomb - and have come across something I cannot explain. In Manwaring's, A Digest of Early Connecticut Probate Records - Vol II, p 348 - I find the following:
Page 52 (Vol. X) 4 August, 1724: Thomas Alderman of Simsbury, a minor, 18 years of age, chose William Alderman of Symsbury to be his guardian. Recog., £50.
Who is this Thomas, born ca 1706? It seems unlikely that he's the son of John, Joseph, or William Alderman - sons of Wm and Mary (Case) Alderman - as they appear to have all been still among the living at that date. The only possible father I can imagine is Thomas, who from what I've read here in various posts had apparently settled in New Jersey.
