Thought this might be of interest to you: From the Durham Assizes of March 7, 1851-- Robert Alderson, age 26, was charged with bigamy. The prisoner was employed at Messrs Hartley's glass works at Sunderland in the year 1845. In the month of Feb that year he married Margaret Smith who had a child five months afterward. The prisoner later went to Hull to seek employment and, while there in 1849 he married Emma Cookson. He was found guilty of bigamy and sentenced to hard labour for six months. This is all the info I have.
