Thanks, Gary, for this information. I'm still not clear however, on who your Alex is. The most likely candidate in my tree is Alexander Aldridge, born about 1843 in Alabama. His father James L. Aldridge brought his large family to St. Francis County, Arkansas, just before the 1850 census. (The town of Forrest City hadn't been founded yet.) Is this your Alex? I know that there are many, many Aldridge cousins, so you may be descended from someone else. According to the posting where I first read about this murder case, Judge Fox's murderer died in custody before coming to trial (not much later than 1874, then, when Alexander would have been only about 31). Does this work with your records?
